An Ode to a Childhood Hero

In the eleventh month on the twenty-sixth day of the year two-thousand and twenty, the sad news reaches me that one of the football-heroes has "ceased to be!" The idol of millions from the stadiums the world over to the "small-screens!" Stunned, I wonder how could this be?! I thought childhood-heroes were immortal beings?!

The "Golden Boy" from Lanas who drew millions from trance to despair with his flamboyance,
football-brilliance and flair!
Love him or loathe him one was free to chose. Indifferent to him one could not be as he never failed to amuse!

He was link between the big and the small making it seem at least briefly that they all shared the same goal! He was a symbol of an era when football was "more than game!" Today, they all look the same and mostly millionaires "play the game!"

Small in stature,but with a heart of a bull,you lived life to the full!

Marked with glory and love his path shall forever be! The deity of football, an idol of millions. Growing up,watching your skills was indeed an honour! Thank you one and only the great Diego Armando Maradona!
