SELF
THE GLOW OF THE SOUL
Take a stance, fight without violence
--
The situation the world is in at the moment is pretty sad, there is no other way to describe it. I am not trying to be negative at all, quite the contrary. Survival instinct is the strongest of all human instincts. Life more often than not requires us to fight to survive! There is nothing bad about it, that is not likely to change any time soon either.
The history of human existence is a chronicle of violence. I am not writing this with a false hope that I could ever affect or change that cold, hard fact. Fighting is part of human existence and will continue to be so for many centuries to come. What I am writing about here are the means we should use to fight life’s battles.
Tension and uncertainty promote anxiety and create commotion in body and mind! This manifests through violence towards others and ourselves. There is no magic recipe that would turn all people into pacifists and that is a fact of life. Conflict is necessary for us to grow as people! Sometimes it is unavoidable.
Here I want to show and offer alternative means we can use to resolve our conflicts (external or internal).
- PERSPECTIVE
It will surprise you how many new options will open once you allow yourself to take a different outlook.
- MIND OVER MATTER
Always take the time to think about your actions. Remember that the mind is the strongest weapon we have in our arsenal!
- PATIENCE
That age-old adage: “Patience is a Virtue” is no fable. Haste is often our biggest adversary. Making rash decisions may sometimes seem like the way to go. Remember, the actions you take now are the result of the present circumstances! Consequences are far-reaching, invisible right now and often painful. Impatience clouds judgment.
When you encounter hostility, try to remember and use the three principles I listed above. There will be times in life when you will have to resort to violence to protect yourself and/or others.
Always remember: This should be your absolute last resort!
Violence is a course of action which when used leaves a permanent imprint on our soul! This is the case regardless of whether we use it towards others or ourselves!
Our body is an instrument “played” by our mind. The composer behind the masterpieces is our soul. Whether you choose to play the melody of your life fast or slow is up to you. Growing up is a process that takes time. If you wish to grow as a person, deliberate and take it slow, do what you must but allow your soul to glow! To others (whenever possible) try to be patient and kind.
In this game called life, you only get one go! Allow your soul to be through the dark times your guiding light. Battles are won not only by the strong but also by the bright!
